Privacy Policy

Lumieran is an AI relationship-intelligence and dating service. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Lumieran is for adults — you must be 18 or older to use it.

Information we collect

• Account & identity — name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash) or Google sign-in, date of birth, and gender.
• Profile content — photos, an optional intro video and voice clip, bio, dating intentions, and personality/compatibility details you choose to add (e.g. MBTI, birth time/place for astrology and BaZi features).
• Location — your approximate location (city and coordinates) to show nearby matches and distance. You control this and can change or omit it.
• Connections & activity — your matches, likes, vouches, saved profiles, blocks, and profile views.
• Messages — conversations with your matches and any AI-coaching chats are stored so we can deliver the messaging features.
• Free tool & readings — the conversation text you paste into the free analysis tool, and the details you enter when buying a Deep, Self, or Relationship reading (see “How your text is processed by AI”).
• Payment data — handled by Stripe; we receive confirmation and subscription status, never your card number.
• Safety data — if you use safety features: emergency contacts, date check-ins, and shared locations.
• Device & usage data — basic technical data and product-usage events (see “How we measure usage”), plus a push-notification token if you enable notifications.

Sensitive information

Some details you may add — such as your religious or spiritual beliefs, and information that can reveal sexual orientation in a dating context — are treated as sensitive (“special category”) data. These fields are optional. We collect and use them only to power matching and the features you choose, and only with your explicit consent at the point you provide them. You can leave them blank, edit them, or remove them at any time, and you can withdraw consent by deleting them or your account.

How we use your information

• To create your profile and suggest and manage matches
• To generate your analyses and readings
• To enable messaging, vouching, events, and other social features
• To deliver readings and account emails, and notifications you opt into
• To operate safety features and moderate abuse
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To keep the service reliable and respond to support requests

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How your text is processed by AI

Free analysis tool: the conversation text you paste is sent to our AI provider NVIDIA to generate your result. A small share of requests is processed on Lumieran's own servers (not sent to any third party) as part of ongoing quality testing. The text you paste is used only to produce your result and is not retained afterwards; the generated result itself is stored so you can return to it.

Paid readings (Deep / Self / Relationship): the details you submit are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate your reading; if that service is unavailable we may fall back to NVIDIA or OpenAI. These providers process the text to generate the reading and do not use it to train their models on our behalf. Your reading inputs and the finished reading are stored so we can deliver and re-show it.

Please don't include full names, phone numbers, or other identifying details you wouldn't want processed.

How we measure usage

We record product-usage events (for example, that a reading was generated or a page was reached) to operate and improve the service. These events describe actions, not psychological state: we do not infer or store judgements about your feelings, and we do not build a psychological or compatibility profile of you from your behaviour. Usage events are tied to a random session identifier, not to your name.

Third-party services we use

We share the minimum data needed to run the service with these processors. We don't sell your data.

• Anthropic, NVIDIA, OpenAI — AI generation of analyses and readings (see above)
• Stripe — payment processing (we never see or store card details)
• Resend — delivering your readings and account emails
• Cloudinary — storing and serving photos you upload
• Google Firebase — push notifications and sign-in
• Sentry — error and crash diagnostics (see below)

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.

Error tracking

To keep the service reliable, technical error reports (such as stack traces, the page involved, and device/ browser details) are sent to Sentry. These are used only to diagnose and fix problems. We do not include your conversation text or reading content in error reports, and they are retained for a limited period (about 90 days).

What others can see

Your profile (photos, bio, and the details you add) is visible to other members as part of matching. Messages are visible to the people you exchange them with. Please share only what you're comfortable being seen by other users.

Where your data is processed

Lumieran and several of the providers above operate from, or process data in, the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and profile data while your account is active. Readings are kept so you can return to them. Free-tool conversation text is not retained after your request. Error logs are kept about 90 days. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data (including profile, messages, matches, and related records) within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, or payment reasons.

Security

We protect your data with measures such as encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and restricted access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to respond quickly to any issues.

Your rights & choices

You can access and edit most of your information in the app, control your notification and location settings, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request a copy of your data, correct it, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent. To make a request, edit your settings or email us at the address below; for account-deletion requests we act within 30 days.

Children

Lumieran is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the service, please contact us and we will remove the account.

Cookies & session storage

We use a sign-in cookie to keep you logged in and minimal session storage to pass your analysis result between pages. We do not set third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app.
